Scottish
National Scooter Rally, Kelso 25/05/07

Despite
Gordy and Stan being fully paid up scooterboys, it had been a long
time since the 'meanies played a scooter rally, pretty much
because we¹d got tired of dealing with crowds who didn¹y
want to hear anything but cover versions.
However, the organisers of this one pestered us rotten, and were
very emphatic that they wanted us to play our own stuff, so we went
for it, and had a top time. There wasn¹t much dancing from the crowd,
right enough, but they¹re
were lots of them (700 plus) and they seemed happy to be there,
and some of them HAD just driven hundreds of miles on 30-year-old Italian
shopping bikes, so it was maybe unreasonable to expect a complete knees-up.
Were heartened afterwards by lots of nice chat from random strangers, and a huge
flurry of myspace friend requests from southern scooter boys.
Highlight: a masterful crowd-warming set from DJs Kev the
Mod and Lukey-Luke, the Morecambe and Wise of scooter rally entertainment.
Lowlight: The silencer fell off Gordy¹s vespa on the
way back along the M8, so he rode into Glasgow sounding quite like an eastern
european tractor.
